The spin dryer as kitchen appliance
Thuringian dumplings are at home in the "Coburger Land” (Upper Franconia). It’s a lot of work for the housewives to prepare those dumplings as part of their Sunday meals.
Approximately 50 years ago, smart cooks converted their laundry spin dryer into a spin dryer for potatoes
They filled the grated, raw potatoes in a potato bag. Afterwards they put the potato bag in the spin dryer and spun the potato mass. The potato water was collected in a bowl and used for starch production.
This method came as an enormous relief on Sundays.
